 “Capturing the art of cinema, music, sport, & life in the moment.” Matt Francis grew up in Northern California while enjoying the epic opportunities surrounding him. He was heavily involved in sports, such as, motocross, baseball, soccer and basketball throughout the majority of his younger years. In pursuit of his passion in action sports, Matt began racing motocross more seriously year round and was still able to wakeboard the Delta in the summer and snowboard Lake Tahoe in the winter. Life was good. While Matt loved to participate in sports himself, he always seemed to be the one taking photos and videos of his friends. In the senior year of high school he completed a senior project on making an action sports film. With mentorship from a local cinematographer, Matt began to see himself transitioning into being behind the camera instead of in front of it. After taking various media classes (photography, graphic design and film) at the local junior college, Matt discovered his niche in cinematography and video editing. After receiving his Associates degree, Matt decided to make the move down to Southern California to continue his film education at Azusa Pacific University.
While attending Azusa Pacific’s film program, Matt was exposed to live video production, short films, wedding videos and music videos. In addition, Matt interned with Redline Studios who were in production for the action sports reality show, “Industry”.
With experience and education under the belt, Matt graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema and Broadcast Arts and is pursuing freelance cinematography and video editing in the action sports and music industries. |
